My new boyfriend says the weirdest things. what do they mean?

my boyfriend and I have been dating for about a month now and he says the weirdest things. the first time we kissed was a few random pecks and then we just started making out. after when we were still kissing he said in between kisses "I'm so glad your kissing me." it struck me odd as why he would interrupt to say that. the weirdest thing is that after i gave him a hand job he actually thanked me after. he just plain and simply said "Thank you.." and continued on with what he was saying. I told him not to thank me but why did he thank me? is that normal? apparently i am his first girlfriend he told me that. these questions way seem weird but i really like him and im kinda startled. it seems that he is greatful for the physical aspects is this a sign that he only wants a physical relationship? he likes spending time with me and when i am not with him he messages me all the time. opinions on this relationship?
